Self-Management of Stress (SMS) for Quality Life

Studies show that stress is an underlying cause of many ailments such as insomnia, nervousness, high blood pressure, respiratory disorders, diabetes, depression and even cancer. Stress not only suppresses the immune system but hampers sleep and brain function thereby leading to long term health issues such as dementia, memory loss etc.

Self-Management of Stress (SMS) is a unique, multi-dimensional approach to manage stress at the physical, mental and emotional levels. SMS calms the mind, improves the immune system, reduces stress and brings about homeostasis within the body. It balances the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system and improves the quality of sleep.

At this SMS workshop you will have a deeper understanding of stress from an Ayurvedic perspective and how stress affects the physical, mental and emotional level.

You will learn both theoretical and practical techniques to help overcome stress on a daily basis thereby increasing your overall health and productivity. Ayurveda, is a Traditional Indian System of Medicine which offers a comprehensive study of the effects of lifestyle on your mind, body and emotions. Ayurveda, known as the “Science of Life”, provides a holistic outlook and application for a balanced life. Even though this holistic system originated in India thousands of years ago, its wisdom on diet and lifestyle and health is universal and timeless.

You will learn

  • How and why stress is the underlying cause of many diseases.
  • The role of sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system in fight-flight-freeze response.
  • How SMS helps lower the brain waves from beta (high beta, mid beta and low beta) to Delta.
  • Why does the body remain in a stress mode even when we are resting
  • How awareness and perception is the key reduce stress
  • Practical techniques to help overcome stress on a daily basis thereby increasing your overall health and productivity.
  • A simple breathing technique to achieve overall balance in the body.
